It was hot in the building, but Mexico volleyball also went on a hot streak.
The Lady Bulldogs became the Mizzou gray bracket champions on the second day of the Mizzou Camp. They went 3-5 in pool play before going 4-1 in bracket play to capture the crown
“Our players were very resilient and overcame playing in a gym without air conditioning all day,” head coach Tami Sells said.
There were 39 teams that made up seven pools and six brackets in the camp. In Mexico’s pool, it defeated Hazelwood East 15-12, 15-4 and also faced teams like Oak Grove (Black), Fatima (Blue) and Pleasant Hope (Black). The Lady Bulldogs defeated Kearney and Pleasant Hope (Gold) to win the gray bracket.
“I’m most proud of how they jumped into new positions and their resiliency to overcome when challenged,” Sells said. “We tried seven different rotations and included all 13 athletes in six matches (July 10).”
