Andrew Peuster is the last one standing for Mexico track and field.
The junior came out of the Class 4 District 4 meet on Saturday at Helias Catholic in Jefferson City the only sectional qualifier after finishing third in the boys 3200 with a time of 10:13.75.
Mexico returned to Class 4 District 4 this year but competed this year against newcomers Capital City, Father Tolton, Helias and Jefferson City. A year ago, Capital City was in Class 5, Helias and Jefferson City were in another Class 4 district and Father Tolton was split between classes 2 and 3, respectively, for the girls and boys. Helias swept the district championships, and the other three schools resided in the top four for both girls and boys.
The top four in each event advance to sectionals this week. Charlie Fisher was close in the boys 200 with a fifth-place time of 23.25, Alexandra Terry was close in the girls pole vault with a fifth-place height of 2.8 meters, and the boys 4x400 relay team of Tyler Grimes, Davontae Frame, Taye Potter and Fisher finished fifth. Hunter Bickell was sixth in the boys 3200 with a time of 10:33.06.
