Missouri Military Academy will be going to its first state Final Four in 32 years.
The state No. 3 Colonels defeated No. 13 Crocker 4-1 on Saturday in a Class 1 state quarterfinal game played in Osage Beach, advancing to their first Final Four since 1992. MMA (16-4) faces No. 5 St. Pius X (Kansas City) (17-9-1) at 12:30 p.m. today at Hunter Stadium at Lindenwood University in St. Charles.
The victory over Crocker was MMA’s eighth straight victory and eighth consecutive game holding its opponent to two goals or less. MMA’s goals came from Emilio Perez, Fernando Puebla, Eric Shellabarger and Alvaro Gonzalez.
If the Colonels beat St. Pius X, they play for a state championship against either No. 1 Valley Park (23-3) or No. 11 New Heights Christian Academy with McAuley Catholic (13-12) at 6 p.m. Thursday at the same venue but play for third place at 10 a.m. the same day and venue in the event of a loss.
