On Monday, Jan., 1, 2024, at approximately 9:15 p.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department (MPSD) responded to the 1200 block of W Liberty about a structure fire. Responding personnel found fire in the middle section of a building used for storage and light industrial work. The fire was contained and extinguished with that section suffering moderate fire damage and the rest of the building having minimal damage. It appeared the fire started in a furnace area and was noticed by an employee in another section of the building. There were no injuries from the incident.
