North Callaway had plenty of winners on the court in its first ever non-losing season.
The volleyball program has improved every season to the point the Ladybirds won a school-record 14 games to finish with their first ever non-losing season. Three earned postseason awards, including Bailey Hill as first team all-Eastern Missouri Conference and all-district, Rylee Horstman as first team all-conference and Lakyn Hartley as second team all-conference.
“Bailey was a tremendous leader on our team this year,” head coach Andrew Klein said about the senior Hill, who led the team with 176 kills and 61 blocks. “She will hold the school record for blocks all-time. She also accepted an offer to play volleyball at Hannibal Lagrange.”
“She was an all around amazing player for our team this year and hardly came off the floor,” Klein said about Horstman, who was second on the team with 172 kills, second with service aces at 38, and second with 267 digs.
“Lakyn had spent much of her career playing multiple positions, and finally, being a setter and a right side helped us have our most wins in school history for 3 consecutive years with her playing,” Klein said about Hartley, who was third on the team in aces with 36, second in assists with 199, second in blocks with 29, and third in digs with 219. “She was an awesome all-around player for our team.”
