While last week started cold for the Paris girls, they ended with a victory.

The Lady Coyotes defeated Meadville 58-47 in the seventh-place game of the Salisbury Tournament on Saturday following a 44-37 loss to Salisbury and a 46-41 loss to Marceline. Meadville turned the ball over 22 times on 21 deflections and 17 steals forced by the Paris defense.

Paris (9-5) also dominated on the offensive glass against Meadville (7-5) with a 20-5 offensive rebound advantage. Alyssa Webb had six of those rebounds, which were part of her seven total rebounds, along with 10 points. Reese Sutton had a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. Melanie Moore finished with 16 points, nine deflections and five steals, and Sophia Crusha had five deflections and four steals.

First-round games were delayed to Wednesday due to winter weather and then Paris lost to Lewis and Clark Conference foe Salisbury (6-5), losing 21-11 on the defensive glass. The Lady Coyotes trailed 26-15 at halftime but couldn’t quite make up the difference. Moore led with 20 points, eight deflections and five steals, and Sutton had 12 points and six rebounds.

The Lady Coyotes lost in the next round to Marceline (6-7) after two overtime periods. Paris led 28-21 going into the fourth quarter but ultimately finished 6-for-15 at the free throw line while Marceline went 17-for-19. Sutton led with 15 points and six rebounds, and Moore had 12 points, 11 deflections and four steals to help turn Marceline over 25 times.
