Just like that, the four-game losing streak is over for the Paris boys.

The Coyotes defeated Lewis and Clark Conference foe Marceline 66-36 on Tuesday night at home, scoring a season-high in the process. The halftime lead for Paris (2-4, 1-1 L&C) was slim at 27-22, but a 27-4 third quarter allowed the team to pull away.

The Coyotes dominated on the glass and in the paint, outrebounding the Tigers 55-16 and outsourcing them in the paint 50-12. Paris pulled down 30 offensive rebounds compared with six for Marceline for 21 second-chance points.

First-year basketball player Alex Williams led the effort on the offensive glass, coming down with 10 offensive rebounds out of his game-high 14. Williams also scored a game-high 20 points, Mason Edwards followed with 12 points and nine rebounds, and Walter Rucker had 12 points and six rebounds.

Paris played conference foe Schuyler County (5-1) on Friday.

Lady Coyotes’ turnovers lead to 54-25 loss to Marceline

The first quarter seemed like it would be a defensive battle, but things changed from there for the Paris girls.

The Lady Coyotes lost 54-25 at home to Lewis and Clark Conference foe Marceline. Paris (3-4, 0-2 L&C) led 8-6 after one but were outscored 36-10 in the next two quarters, thanks partly to 25 turnovers turning into 22 points for Marceline (4-2, 1-0 L&C).

Reese Sutton led Paris with 13 points and six rebounds, Alyssa Webb had four points and six rebounds, Emma Ashenfelter had three steals, and Kennedy Ashenfelter and Rachel Shoemyer each followed with two steals. Ireland Bloss and Addison Huber each led Marceline with 11 points.

Paris played Friday night against Class 2 No. 9 and conference foe Schuyler County (5-1).
