Mexico keeps rolling this baseball season.
The No. 9 Bulldogs (24-11) advanced to their first state quarterfinal game since 2014 after a 4-1 Class 4 sectional victory at No. 6 Moberly (24-11). Brady Fox pitched seven innings with four hits, three walks, two hit batters, two strikeouts and one earned run. The senior pitcher added two pickoffs. Chance McCarty had a two-RBI single to cap a three-run sixth inning, which also included a Pearson Kleinsorge sacrifice fly and a 10-pitch walk drawn by Kinser Groves. McCarty had two stolen bases, and Kaden Benne scored two runs and stole one base. Moberly starting pitcher Kyler Fanning allowed three runs and all of them were unearned thanks to three Moberly errors. There were seven combined hits.
Mexico hosts Orchard Farm (23-8), who received votes in the most recent state poll, at 5 p.m. Thursday.
