Mexico played an overtime soccer game yet again on Thursday.
The Bulldogs lost to district rival Fulton 2-1 in their home opener on Chris Hotop Field two days after Mexico won 3-2 at Elsberry on penalty kicks. Marc Cadena Catala scored for Fulton in the sixth minute of overtime. Mexico and Fulton played a scoreless second half where the shots were almost even with an 11-9 Fulton advantage. Uriel Jarquin-Vasquez scored Mexico's only goal when he tied the game in the 19th minute. Alex Matuz-Sanchez made 13 saves in goal for Mexico.
"It was going to come down to who wants it a little bit more," head coach Bill Gleeson said. "Just give everything you got."
Mexico plays at Marshall (2-2) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
