The Mexico girls came through in crunch time on Wednesday.
Down 2-1 to Canton (3-9-1) with six minutes left, the Lady Bulldogs (4-16) scored two goals in the final two minutes, including the game-winner by Kayden Cason with 11.9 seconds left, to win 3-2 in their regular season finale on Senior Night on Chris Hotop Field. Brenda Matuz put in a point-black rebound in the 78th minute before Cason did the same in the final seconds. Marali Herrera-Amaya scored a goal before she and other four seniors -- Bailey Christianson, Bella Cummings, Elise Galloway and Anna Washburn -- were recognized at halftime.
Mexico plays Wright City (16-5) at 7 p.m. Monday in the Class 2 District 4 tournament at St. Francis Borgia in Washington.
