Despite Class 1 schools doing their best, they couldn't knock off the Centralia Panthers.
Centralia defended their state title by winning the Class 1 championship on Thursday at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, finishing with 115.5 points to be ahead of Marceline's 106.5 points and North Callaway's 105 points. The Panthers have won three state titles in four years and have seven straight team trophies.
Rex Bryson repeated as an individual state champion by pinning Marceline's Jack Sportsman in 39 seconds in the 175-pound championship match. Charlie Robinson wrestled in his second straight state final and took second at 138 pounds, Waylon Adkisson was third at 113 pounds, Gradon Hedberg was fifth at 120 pounds and Marshall Kable was fifth at 285 pounds.
