Nik Crider was on the losing end of a pitcher's duel on Tuesday at Mexico High School.
The Community R-6 junior pitched 6 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts, two walks, two unearned runs and one hit, but New Haven's Anthony Groner went seven innings with eight strikeouts, two walks and one hit in the Class 1 District 4 semifinals. In a game that was moved because of Community's field being too wet, the Trojans put their first baserunners on in the fourth inning with a couple of walks and picked up their only hit on a Kaiden Erdel single. New Haven (5-12) scored both of its runs on errors.
Community finishes the season 12-8.
