A 40-year-old man was arrested on alleged kidnapping and other charges April 12 after a woman told police he abducted her in Mexico.
Nathan M. Sommer was arrested for charges of kidnapping third degree, assault fourth degree and sexual misconduct second degree, according to a news release from the Mexico Public Safety Department.
Just before 4 a.m. April 12, Mexico Public Safety Department personnel met with a 48-year-old Mexico woman. The woman reported being at a Mexico convenience store around 1 a.m., when she began speaking with a man she did not know. The man, later identified as Sommer, then forced the woman into his vehicle and drove around Mexico and Audrain County.
“The woman reported that Sommer would not allow her to exit the vehicle and would threaten her physically,” the release stated. “When Sommer stopped his vehicle in the area of Plunkett Park, the woman managed to flee and hide in the area until Sommer left.”
Just after 4:40 a.m., officers found Sommer in the area of Jackson and Olive Street. He was arrested without incident and taken to MPSD and then eventually to the Audrain County Jail, the release stated.
