One man was arrested and another is still at large after a March 15 shooting in Mexico, according to a Mexico Public Safety Department news release.
Monterio M. Truss, 25, of Mexico was arrested after a traffic stop and taken to MPSD and eventually transported to the Audrain County Jail on charges of assault first degree, assault fourth degree and unlawful use of weapon. Branden J. Truss, 28, of Mexico, ran from the traffic stop and was not found. An arrest warrant has been issued for him, the release stated.
Just before 9:50 p.m., Mexico Public Safety Department personnel responded to the 200 block of South Alabama regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers learned that a man, 46, had been shot while in the front yard of a house, by people in a white Lincoln sedan, as part of a dispute that had been going on throughout the day at various locations, the release stated. Audrain Ambulance District took the man to University Hospital, where he was admitted for non-life-threatening injuries.
Shortly before 10 p.m., a deputy with the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department stopped the suspect vehicle on South Clark Street near Oak Lane, where Monterio Truss was arrested and Branden Truss fled.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol also assisted with the investigation.
