The Mexico Optimist Hounds Cross Country team hosted the Hounds Youth XC Derby on Saturday at Green Estate Park. The Central Missouri Athletics Circuit event included boys and girls 2K, 3K and 4K races for kids ages 8-and-under, 9-12 and 13-14.
Luke Stevenson was Mexico's highest finisher in the 8u boys race in 33rd out of 63 with a time of 11:25, Amera Beck finished sixth out of 48 with a time of 15:00 in the 9-10 girls race, Landon Blue finished 19th out of 44 with a time of 15:28 in the 9-10 boys race and Alice Fierge finished 14th out of 30 with a time of 16:44 in the 11-12 girls race.
The event had several local sponsors.
