Mexico Public Safety Department officials advise people about burning items in the city after department representatives responded to a fire March 13 in Mexico.
There was no property damage and no injuries from the fire after it was extinguished, a news release stated.
Around 2 p.m., Mexico Public Safety Department personnel responded to the 1400 block of South Western Street in reference to a grass fire. Responders found that a resident was burning yard waste when the fire spread through the yard and into some neighboring property.
“Residents are reminded that only brush and yard waste can be openly burned in the city limits,” the release stated. “People burning those items must stay with the fire and have an available way to control and extinguish it if need be.”
