The number of active case of COVID-19 jumped to 20 Monday in Audrain County.
An increase in cases was expected, health administrator Sandra Hewlett said July 8 during a collaborative teleconference with county governmental, business, school district and health leaders. The bump in cases likely will be from July 4 festivities, she said last week.
Active cases have hovered from between 6 to 14 over the past few weeks, and Monday was the largest active case jump recently. There were 10 active cases Saturday, which was an increase of two from Friday. Thursday had six active cases.
Audrain County has seen 159 total cases of COVID-19 since the first case was confirmed in mid-April. This equates to slightly less than 2 cases per day since April 18. Of the total cases, 138 have recovered and there was one death. The Audrain County Health Department has tested 3,289 people, so far, for COVID-19.
