Thirty thousand dollars in grant money will be put towards starting funds to create an all inclusive playground at the Van-Far Elementary School in the future thanks to an A.P. Green Foundation grant check awarded on Monday, Dec. 19.
The initiative is called Hope for Tomorrow-Creating Playground Equity within the Van-Far School District.
"The playground will have to be done in phases. I am still writing grants hoping to secure more money for the project," said Melissa Curtis Deimeke, Van-Far Special Education Director.
The total cost of the playground is estimated at $268,169. Anyone wishing to make a donation can contact Van-Far Elementary Principal Brian Hummel or Melissa Curtis Deimeke at 573-594-2731.
