After a rough weekend to start the season, Van-Far began its home schedule much differently.
The Indians beat Calvary Lutheran 15-12 in Farber after finishing with 16 hits — much different from the combined eight hits in two losses Saturday to Wheatland and New Bloomfield. Van-Far (1-2) picked up its first win this season while breaking a four-game losing streak against Calvary Lutheran (0-1).
Van-Far’s biggest inning happened in the second when it scored 10 runs to respond to seven Calvary Lutheran runs in the first two innings. The lead eventually grew to 15-7.
Tyson Douglas finished 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs at the leadoff spot, Carson Huff went 3-for-3 with two runs and a RBI, Gibson Condie finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and two doubles, Reece Culwell was 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI and Ronnie Stanich added two RBI and a triple.
Van-Far is back in Farber next Monday when it hosts Hermann (0-1) at 5 p.m.
