Van-Far only had one more win with four victories this year but also four award-worthy players.
Among the Lady Indians to earn all-district postseason awards were Elliott Utterback with first team, and Dalana Gay, Reeve Woodall and Mylee Keller each with second team.
Utterback finished with team-highs of a .373 batting average, a .408 on-base percentage, 19 RBI, three triples, 11 stolen bases and had four doubles and one home run. She only had one error and a .987 fielding percentage in 23 games.
“Utterback brought a lot for our offense and had a great season on both offense and defense,” head coach Shaylen Bailey said.
The senior Gay returned as the team’s primary pitcher after missing all last season with injury. She pitched 86⅔ innings with 99 strikeouts and a 5.54 ERA and added six RBI at the plate and a .837 fielding percentage.
“Having Gay back on the mound this season helped tremendously,” Bailey said. “When she wasn't on the mound, she was a strong defender all over the field.”
The senior Woodall finished with a .377 on-base percentage, five doubles, a team-high two home runs, seven RBI, six stolen bases, nine runs and a .938 fielding percentage determined by eight errors in 23 games.
Keller led the team with 16 runs scored and 11 stolen bases along with a .308 on-base.
“Woodall and Keller were strong in the infield and helped a lot offensively,” Bailey said.
