The Van-Far boys counted on three players for offense on the court this season.

The season statistics support that and demonstrate why they each earned postseason awards. Pacey Reading and Carson Huff each were named first team Eastern Missouri Conference members and were named all-district for the runner-up Indians in Class 2 District 5, and Gaven Gaston was selected as second team on the all-conference team.

Reading and Huff each scored their 1,000th career points this season while being the leading and second-leading scorers for Van-Far this season. Reading averaged 18.9 points per game, 7.6 rebounds and two assists, and Huff averaged 11.2 points per game, 3.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

Reading had the most points with 549, rebounds with 219 and most 3-pointers with 53 and finished with a best free-throw percentage of 74 percent in a season he earned the team’s MVP and Mr. Indian awards. Huff earned the team’s Leadership and Sportsmanship awards.

Gaston averaged 9.2 points per game, 5.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.3 steals. He had the most assists with 129 in his first year stepping in as the team’s primary point guard. The team awarded Gaston its Most Outstanding Player award.

Other awards the team issued within its ranks included the Hustle and Mr. Defense awards for Kasen Christian, the Sixth Man and Most Promising award for Bryce Reading, Ultimate Teammate for Evan Utterback and Most Improved for Kaleb Baskett.
