Van-Far continues its biggest winning streak of the season.
The Indians defeated Eastern Missouri Conference foe Mark Twain 9-5 on Thursday at home to extend their winning streak to five games and give them their third straight conference victory. After scoring a seven-year high run total with a 24-5 win on April 16 at conference foe Wellsville-Middletown (1-8, 0-4 EMO), Van-Far finished with 10 hits and eight stolen bases against Mark Twain.
Van-Far (8-4, 4-2 EMO) had a 7-5 lead after four innings against Mark Twain (0-8, 0-5 EMO) and gained insurance with two runs in the sixth inning, including on a RBI single by Gaven Gaston. Tyson Douglas, Reece Culwell, Ronnie Stanich and Garrett Hopke each had one RBI, Gibson Condie went 3-for-3 with two runs and one walk, and Malik Douglas stole three bases.
After Carson Huff allowed three earned runs on five hits and five walks with five strikeouts in four innings, Condie relieved him with three innings of two hits, two strikeouts and one walk.
Van-Far hosts conference foe Bowling Green (1-8, 1-2 EMO) at 5 p.m. today.
