On Monday, Dec. 13, an auditor from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services visited the Audrain County Health Department (ACHD) to conduct ACHD’s biannual audit of its Women, Infant and Children’s (WIC) program. The purpose of the audit is to make sure the ACHD WIC program is within federal and state parameters.
“We’re always happy to understand through these audits how we as a health department can continue to improve the services we offer,” WIC coordinator and clinical services manager, Becky Wieberg, RN, said. “These audits will help us improve our service to our residents we serve.”
Wieberg says the biannual audits also gives the state a chance to find and correct any errors that may occur within the program throughout the year.
The WIC program serves an average of 600 Audrain County residents per month through the year providing access to health-conscious foods, counseling on healthy eating and breastfeeding instruction and aid to expectant and new mothers in the county.
“WIC is a valuable service provided to area families, and we encourage individuals to contact ACHD for a confidential assessment to determine program eligibility,” stated Craig Brace, ACHD administrator and CEO.
If you have any questions about or want more information about the WIC program in Audrain County, you can call the ACHD at 573-581-1332 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and ask to speak to a WIC staff member. Or visit their website at myachd.org.
