The Wolfpack Academy competed in the Firley YMCA in Jefferson City Summer Soccer High School 7v7 League, which consists of most of the surrounding high schools female and male teams.
“The YMCA 7v7 League is a very good acquisition for soccer players or teams from their current high school to compete on a high level,” coach Chris Williamson said. “It also gives a preview of the upcoming season team and farewell to graduates of the current school year. Assessment of new leadership can be identified. It’s overall a great tool for evaluations. End result is growth.”
Alex Rodriguez is the captain of the Wolfpack Academy Dons and will be in his final year at Mexico and Jesus Garcia will be in his senior year at Mexico, as well. Jose Pena and Kenneth Guzman (both of California High School), Yusuf Ruhenda (Battle High School) and Lucky Ikorukwishaka (Rock Bridge High School) will be seniors this coming year. Ivan Pena will be a sophomore along with Alex Matuz, a sophomore from Mexico. Oscar Alvarez will be a junior at Mexico, and Asimwe Ntegeki will be a Rock Bridge High School junior. The rest of the group includes graduates David Lopez (Battle), Austin Byishimo (Rock Bridge) and Ryan Dingledine (Mexico).
The Wolfpack Academy Dons have brought the heat starting out with a 7-0-1 record. Victories have come against Camdenton High School Team 1 & 2, Helias High School Team 1 & 2, Southern Boone High School, Jefferson City Jays and a tie at 4 against Father Tolton.
The team has scored 59 goals and have allowed 19 goals. This gives them a +40 goal differential. There are 2 games left and a goal of being unbeaten is in their sights.
“The group are players that mesh well together and they continue to know each other on the field,” Williamson said. “These players are sending a message by being diverse and working as one unit. It’s not only a beautiful perspective but very hard to beat mentally and physically.”
