The Wolfpack Academy captured the silver medal Nov. 17 in the Show Me State November 3-v-3 Soccerfest in Boonville.

This is one of the two outdoor events before the futsal season begins for the Wolfpack Academy.

The day started out with a team from Smith-Cotton High School. The Wolfpack would fall 6-5. Both teams were attacking and defending at high levels. In Game 2, the Wolfpack would face a group from Boonville High School. They would take the match 9-7. The second unit would play more minutes in this match to get a feel of the game in its entirety.

Game 3 would be a tight battle against a group from Camdenton High School. This was a game of physicality and ball handling that would eventually end up a 6-6 tie. This game would set up a final match that would put them in contention for the gold medal with a loss by Smith-Cotton. With a win by Smith-Cotton, it would be a close grab for silver with Camdenton.

The Wolfpack came out firing on all cylinders taking a demanding lead at halftime 5-1. As the second half began the Wolfpack Academy continued on their offensive attack finding the back of the net. At the end it would be a 9-3 victory over the NE Northern Stars.

Alex Rodriguez, Nathan Rodriguez, Oscar Alvarez, and Jesus Garcia are all Mexico High School players. Kenneth Guzman and Jose Pena are California High School, but they run in the same pack on the competitive level in the Wolfpack Academy.

“The players did a good job passing the ball, defending, transitioning, and offensively attacking with no hesitation,” coach Chris Williamson said. “I think these activities improve these players in order to be better for their high school team. That was evident this Bulldog season. They had a better record and produced more goals than the season prior. But it takes more than 4 or 5 players to really get to a district championship. It takes a complete team. But these players on this team want to be pushed to their limit. So I will continue to guide them to where they wanna succeed.”
