Centralia’s ReaLee Smith had her best finish of the summer on July 11 in Camdenton.
The two-time state medalist that helped the Lady Panthers finish third in Class 1 last season shot an 86, or 11-over par, in the girls 16-18 group in a Missouri Golf Association junior tournament at Lake Valley Golf Club to improve on her previous-best fifth-place finish June 9 in Moberly.
Smith did have five bogeys on the front nine but also four pars for a 41, or five-over par. She had three holes of double-bogey or worse on the back nine for a 45, or nine-over par.
Two spots behind her was another state qualifier from a year ago, Mexico’s Kennedi Rowe. She shot a 97, or 25-over par, sinking a par on the par three fifth hole and a birdie on the par five 14th hole.
Centralia’s Kennedy Dickerson, who joined Smith and her other teammates at state last year, will remain teammates with Smith when they play at NJCAA North Central Missouri College in the fall. In the meantime, Dickerson shot a 102, or 30-over par, to finish eighth.
In the 16-18-year-old boys group, Mexico’s Aidan Knipfel finished 14th with a 92, or 20-over par.
