Community R-6 softball made it clear it is ready for this season.
The Lady Trojans won their season opener on Monday at district foe Wellsville-Middletown 20-0 in three innings. They finished with 11 hits and scored 17 runs in the first inning.
After the final out was recorded in the first inning, 23 Lady Trojans stepped up to the plate. Rylee Rafferty began the game with a triple and had two more at-bats, including a walk and a RBI single. Community walked 10 times during the first inning.
Rafferty finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI; Myla Carroll went 1-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored; Amy McCurdy was 2-for-2 with three runs scored, a two-RBI double and two walks; and Lydia Hoyt finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI.
Carroll pitched three innings while striking out eight and allowing one hit and one walk.
Community has its home opener against Harrisburg (1-2) at 5 p.m. today.
