The Trojans had a limited roster for shootouts this summer due to scheduling conflicts in the summer but finished with a 3-4 record.
Head coach Kody Asquith said it is difficult to judge what his team will be this winter based on this summer but expects it to be “young and raw.”
“It’s hard to really judge what we are actually capable of being next year without all of the puzzle pieces being there,” Asquith said. “We are really young and raw this year. I think we have potential, but it’s going to be tough since we are so young.”
Asquith said Community's record could have been 5-2 since two of its games “got away” from them. The Trojans played in the Higbee Shootout, defeating Breckenridge and North Callaway’s junior varsity while losing to North Callaway’s varsity and Smithton. They then played in the Monroe City Shootout, defeating Mark Twain but losing to South Shelby and Griggsville-Perry.
“We went 3-4 this summer and played some really good competition that I feel made us better,” Asquith said.
