The reigning Final Four Community R-6 Trojans are becoming accustomed to its new roster early.
The Trojans began its second fall baseball season on Tuesday at home with a 9-2 loss to Atlanta. They committed five errors to allow six unearned runs to score, and the Hornets scored eight of their runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
Atlanta scored first in the third inning before Ean Johnson stole home in the bottom half of the frame to tie the game at 1. Aaron Carter scored on a bunt fielder’s choice in the fourth inning for the 2-1 lead.
Community had two errors to help Atlanta score five runs in the fifth inning and an error followed a walk and hit by pitch in the sixth inning to help the Hornets’ two-out offense for a three-run inning.
The Trojans finished with three hits as Mason Carroll picked up two of them, including a double, and Drake Welch had the other hit. Carroll also pitched six innings — with Cooper Rohan covering a scoreless seventh inning — and allowed nine hits and two walks while striking out 14.
Community is scheduled to play at Sturgeon at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
