Community R-6 had a good showing at its home junior high softball tournament.
The Lady Trojans finished third after going 2-1 during the Community Junior High Softball Tournament played at Laddonia and Martinsburg fields. They defeated Canton 2-1 before losing 11-8 and then defeating Sturgeon 12-0 in the five-inning third-place game.
The first-round game against Canton had four combined hits, including RBI hits from Ana McLeod in the fourth inning and Natali Sommer in the fifth inning. Alexis Schafer struck out 17 and allowed one unearned run on one hit and one walk in seven innings.
Community needed six hits to score 12 runs as the team scored five runs without the benefit of a hit. Addie Davidson led the Lady Trojans with three RBI, and Sommer, Schafer and Maci Pointdexter each followed with two RBI.
