Board candidate filing closed on Tuesday, Dec. 27.
Erik Richardson filed on Tuesday, Dec. 27 to run for an open seat on the Mexico Council during the April, 4 election. Mr. Richardson is a small business owner and freelance writer with a background ranging from corporate finance to education (kindergarten through college). Over the years he has been active in both city and state government, and he is a current board member for the Audrain County Historical Society. There are two open seats on the Mexico City Council. The other candidates include Steve Haag, Johnny Clinton Lovelace, Josh Price and Larry Webber.
The field of candidates for the Mexico School Board grew to a total of eight on Tuesday, Dec, 27, as Jessica Johnson Ekern and Mathew Pilger filed on deadline day.
Jennifer Gore who previously filed emailed this to the Mexico Ledger explaining about herself. Jennifer is a retired teacher from Mexico 59, and has two children who are graduates of the Mexico school system. She has a masters degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis, and is ready to provide a new voice and a new vision for the district. Jennifer believes it is time to return common sense to the educational system. The educational bureaucrats have taken control of the local schools and created a place where parents and teachers struggle to have a voice. Jennifer is a firm believer in providing support for classroom teachers, and in creating positive lines of communication between parents and teachers as key stakeholders in the educational process.
Other candidates include Dusty Blue, Todd D. Yager, Kelli S. Teel, Kara Clovis, and Michelle Cobb Stephens.
The election will be held on April 4, 2023.
