A legion of Colonels finished on the podium Saturday at home.
Seven Missouri Military Academy wrestlers medaled at the Colonels Classic Varsity Tournament, with Ryan Miles and Deonte Kerns earning individual titles. The Colonels finished fourth out of nine schools, with 93 points — behind winner Fulton’s 222.5 points and runner-up Hallsville’s 222 points.
Kerns was a champion at 106 pounds, and Miles was the champion at 132 pounds. Miles had five opponents and pinned all of them, including Wright City’s Lane Graves in the second period of the fifth round.
Blake Krull finished second at 165 pounds. Among the Colonels finishing third to also medal were Dallas Grantz at 126 pounds, Trae Griffiths at 144, Bryson Powell at 150 and Ben Huynh at 285. Griffiths finished 3-2 on the day, and Powell was 2-2.
MMA focuses on the Class 1 District 3 meet on Jan. 17-18 at Lafayette County High School in Higginsville. North Callaway and Centralia are among the other teams in its district.
