Lady Trojans' defense shines in 39-8 win at New Franklin

The junior varsity Lady Trojans weren’t allowing anything past their defenses on Monday, Jan. 2.

Community R-6 defeated New Franklin 39-8, shutting out the Lady Bulldogs in two quarters.

The Lady Trojans had a 25-3 halftime lead and then had a 32-3 advantage after three quarters

Kat Meyer led the team with 13 points, Peyton Beamer followed with 11 points, Jocelyn Curtis had six points, and Adrianna Woodson finished with five points.

“Kat Meyer and Peyton Beamer had a great scoring game from around the perimeter,” coach Stacie Carroz said. “We got after it defensively, only allowing our opponent eight points the entire night. The girls are building chemistry and playing well together.”

The junior varsity Lady Trojans play at Mexico on Jan. 19 and at Cairo on Jan. 31 before returning home for a Feb. 2 game with Mark Twain.
