North Callaway wins home opener 18-7 against Macon

North Callaway did enough in the first half to win its home opener on Friday.

The Thunderbirds defeated Macon 18-7 -- leading 18-0 at halftime -- thanks largely to 161 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries by Jaiden Galbreath and Macon (0-2) only accumulating 81 yards on offense. Galbreath added five tackles and two sacks on defense, and Wyatt Haden had 10 tackles on defense to go with 46 yards on seven carries. Haden made a leaping 35-yard touchdown catch to make it 12-0 in the second quarter, and Carter Moore had an eight-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter.

North Callaway (2-0)hosts Eastern Missouri Conference foe Montgomery County (0-2) next week.

Mexico shut out 21-0 at Southern Boone

Mexico lost the  battle between state-ranked No. 7 teams on Friday.

The Class 4 No. 7 Mexico lost 21-0 at Class 3 No. 7 Southern Boone (2-0). Quarterback Mason Shearer ran for two touchdowns.

Mexico (1-1) plays at Odessa (0-1) next week.

Van-Far dominates at Russellville 66-20

Van-Far kept rolling in Russellville on Friday.

The Indians won 66-20 after scoring 44 points in their victory last week. Van-Far (2-0) led Russellville (1-1) 36-12 at halftime.

Van-Far hosts Eastern Missouri Conference foe Louisiana (0-1) next week.

Centralia earns first victory after 48-20 win over rival Hallsville

Centralia won its home opener on Friday.

The Panthers did it against their arch rival Hallsville 48-20. They led Hallsville (1-1) 24-8 at halftime.

Centralia (1-1) opens its Clarence Cannon Conference schedule at Clark County (0-2) next week.

8-Man Football: Paris wins 42-0 at Orrick

The Paris defense continued to be stingy on Friday.

The Coyotes allowed 113 yards in their 44-0 victory at Orrick (1-1) following a 72-8 win over Keytesville last week. Gatlin Fountain had 11 carries for 112 yards and two receptions for 79 yards and two touchdowns, Brad Skinner had 10 carries for 112 yards and two touchdowns, and Luke Ensor passed 6-for-18 for 193 yards and two touchdowns.

Paris (2-0) plays at Braymer with Breckenridge (1-0) next week.
