Community R-6 first quarter leads to comfortable 61-25 win at Madison

The Community R-6 girls didn't take long getting comfortable on Thursday night.

The Lady Trojans won 61-25 at Central Activities Conference foe Madison (3-17, 0-6 CAC) after a 23-4 first quarter. All 11 Lady Trojans (13-8, 4-2 CAC) played and nine ending up scoring.

"We really got the ball inside to Kylie (Brooks) and hit four 3s against their zone," head coach Bob Curtis said. 

Brooks led with 15 points and 15 rebounds, Alyssa Beamer followed with 12 points, Aaliyah Welch had nine points, Peyton Beamer finished with eight points, Brooklynn Glasgow had seven points, and Kay Meyer added six points.

Community plays at conference foe Pilot Grove (8-11, 2-2 CAC) at 6 p.m. tonight.

Paris

- Paris 40 Harrisburg (11-9, 3-1 L&C) 27 in Harrisburg. The Lady Coyotes (7-12, 1-4 L&C) win their third straight and hold their third consecutive opponent under 30 points. They host Lewis and Clark Conference foe Knox County (5-12, 1-3 L&C) at 6 p.m. tonight.

- Community R-6 63 Madison 27 in Madison

The Trojans (4-16, 2-4 CAC) snap their 10-game losing streak, defeating Central Activities Conference and district opponent Madison (1-17, 0-6 CAC) for the second time this season.  Community plays at conference foe Pilot Grove (11-9, 2-2 CAC) at 7 p.m. tonight.

Paris

- Harrisburg (12-9, 5-0 L&C) 70 Paris 52 in Harrisburg. Paris moves to 4-14 and 1-4 in conference. The Coyotes host conference foe Knox County (1-15, 0-4 L&C) at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

Van-Far boys fall 63-46 at state-ranked conference foe Montgomery County

The Van-Far boys needed a much better start at Thursday's quality opponent.

The Indians fell behind Eastern Missouri Conference foe and Class 3 No. 10 Montgomery County 20-6 after the first quarter to eventually lose 63-46. Van-Far's four-game winning streak was snapped, but its losing streak against the Wildcats was extended to five games.

Nikos Connaway led Van-Far (14-4, 4-1 EMO) with 18 points, and Pacey Reading followed with 14 points.

Montgomery (16-5, 6-0 EMO) had two score at least 20 points, including Clayton Parker with 24 and Jake Stellwagen with 22. Tyler Erwin followed with eight points, and Jay Rodgers had six points.

Van-Far has an action-packed night planned for tonight with Senior Night and Courtwarming falling on tonight's matchups with conference foe Mark Twain (3-15, 1-4 EMO). Senior Night will be celebrated at 5 p.m., the Lady Indians play their game at 5:30 and then the Indians follow soon after.

Centralia boys defeat Linn second time 62-53

After defeating a familiar opponent, the Centralia boys secured their second win against another.

Following a 66-33 victory at conference foe Brookfield led by Noah Kropf's season-best performance of 19 points and eight rebounds on the previous night, the Panthers defeated Linn for the second time this season 62-53 on Thursday at Linn.

Centralia (11-8) held on to a three- to -four-point lead over Linn (10-12) after the first three quarters before gaining separation in the fourth.

Cullen Bennett led with 15 points, six assists and five rebounds, Anthony Ford followed with 12 points and eight rebounds, Travis Brooks had 12 points and three assists, and Kropf finished with 10 points in his follow-up performance.

Centralia (1-1 CCC) plays at Clarence Cannon Conference foe Highland (4-10, 0-1 CCC) at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

- Mexico 48 Orchard Farm 18 at Orchard Farm. Carlos Juarez Ramirez, Brayden Arnold, Evan Wilson, Grant Van Horn and Emille Scanavino with pinfall victories. Evan Blair and Isai Hernandez won extra bouts by pin.

- Mexico 54 Lutheran St. Charles 18 at Orchard Farm. Arnold, Watson Azdell, Kyler Carr, Van Horn, Hernandez, and Grant Walker won via pinfall. Travis Shramek won an extra bout by pin. The Bulldogs compete in the Hillsboro duals tournament on Saturday in their last action before districts Feb. 16-17 in Boonville

Missouri Military Academy

- Chillicothe 62 MMA 18 in Chillicothe. Michael Pfeifer, Ryan Miles and Trae Griffiths each won via pinfall.

- Carrollton 40 MMA 34 in Chillicothe. Pfeifer won via 14-0 major decision, and Miles and Griffiths pinned their opponents. The Colonels host the MMA Varsity Colonel Classic in Mexico, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday.
