Mexico seniors surge past Moberly 4-1
Mexico won its season opener, North Central Missouri Conference, and district opener 4-1 on Monday night at home against Moberly. Senior Nos. 3 and 4 hitters Landyn Kleinsorge and Tyler Thoenen combined to drive in three runs in the deciding third inning. Kleinsorge and senior Jack Wilburn combined to allow six hits, with Wilburn getting the start and win.

“They came in clutch and just dialed in and hit the gaps in right center and left center,” head coach Daniel McCarty said about Nos. 3 and 4 hitters Kleinsorge and Thoenen. “If we can start doing that 1-9, look out.”
Allen fans 14, perfect at plate in Community’s 7-3 win at Wellsville
Senior Gavin Allen had a big Monday night for Community R-6 at home against Wellsville-Middletown.
The Trojans opened their season with a 7-3 win against a district opponent, thanks largely to 14 strikeouts in a little more six innings by Allen, who also went 3-for-3 with three runs and five stolen bases. Junior Mason Carroll hit the game-winning two-RBI home run in the third inning.
