Commuity R-6 scores season-high in 22-6 win over Madison
Community R-6 had already scored 20 runs in a victory over Wellsville-Middletown.
On Thursday at home, the Lady Trojans did better than that with a 22-6 win over Central Activities Conference foe Madison (3-10, 0-4 CAC). They only needed seven hits as Madison finished with six errors and walked 14 against Community (14-5, 5-1 CAC).
Chloe Johnson led the offense by going 2-for-3 with three RBI, three runs and two doubles, Aaliyah Welch was 2-for-2 with three RBI, three runs and a double, Amy McCurdy went 2-for-4 with two RBI, Jocelyn Curtis had two RBI, and Braelyn Kuda scored four runs after taking three walks.
Myla Carroll also drew three walks but only walked two while pitching, allowing six unearned runs on six hits and striking out four in four complete innings.
Paris hits double digits second straight time in 17-0 win at Schuyler County
A day after scoring 10 runs at home ina shutout against Scotland County, Paris did it again.
This time, the Lady Coyotes defeated another Lewis and Clark Conference foe Schuyler County (4-9, 0-3 L&C) 17-0 on the road in five innings. Paris (13-3, 3-1 L&C) collected 18 hits, including four extra-base hits.
Knightlee Mitten led by going 2-for-5 with three RBI and a triple, Emma Ashenfelter had three RBI and a double, Reese Sutton finished 4-for-4 with two RBI and a double, Alyssa Webb had two RBI, and Sylvee Graupman and Kennedy Ashenfelter were each 2-for-4 with a RBI.
Ava Crain was 2-for-3 with a RBI but also pitched five one-hit innings with four strikeouts.
Van-Far drops 12-1 game to Bowling Green during Homecoming week
Van-Far softball couldn't secure a victory this Homecoming week.
The football team will go for one tomorrow night against Montgomery County as the Lady Indians lost their home Eastern Missouri Conference game to Bowling Green 12-1 in six innings. Bowling Green (6-7, 3-2 EMO) finished with 11 hits compared to Van-Far's one by Elliott Utterback.
Utterback's hit was a RBI single in the first inning to tie the game at 1 for the Lady Indians (1-11, 0-5 EMO). Dalana Gay surrendered four extra-base hits by Bowling Green.
Van-Far is the No. 8 seed that will have to face the top seed and Class 2 No. 9 Elsberry in the first round of the Bulldog Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Volleyball
Centralia follows five-set victory with loss at Linn
Centralia earned its second five-set victory two days prior at Bowling Green.
However, the Lady Panthers were swept at Linn (25-16, 25-14 and 27-25) for their fourth straight-set loss (in five-set matches) this season. Centralia won its second five-set matches in as many tries at Bowling Green (25-20, 22-25, 16-25, 25-18 and 16-14). Linn improves to a 6-4 record while Bowling Green fell to 5-9-1.
Centralia takes a 4-11 record into the Hallsville Invitational on Saturday. The Lady Panthers play teams such as Columbia Independent and Kirksville, who are both in their pool.
