A Silex man was arrested Friday morning soon after allegedly stealing a vehicle in rural Laddonia before another local resident held him at gun point for attempting to steal fuel from a bulk barrel.
Tyler D. Perkins, 26, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, motor fuel theft, tampering with another’s property and first-degree trespassing.
A Laddonia resident reported to the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office that he was awakened by the sound of his truck being driven out of his driveway at about 1 a.m.
Deputies en route received another call from Audrain County Joint Communications about a different Laddonia resident reporting he had detained a man at gunpoint, who was allegedly caught stealing fuel from a bulk barrel on his property.
Deputies and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers arrived and determined the man allegedly stealing fuel also had the allegedly stolen truck. Perkins’ personal vehicle was found abandoned close to the location from which the truck was taken, according to a sheriff’s department news release.
