Three Mexico wrestlers win at Eldon JV tournament
Some of Mexico’s younger wrestlers achieved victory during Christmas break.
Three Bulldogs won their respective weight class on Thursday at the Eldon JV Invitational, including Evan Blair at 106 pounds, Evin Ford at 150 and Jayden Hodge at 190.
Blair won four times via pinfall in the first period, Ford pinned three opponents and won via 8-6 and 8-4 decisions, and Hodge pinned five opponents in the first period.
Travis Shramek finished second at 285 after pinning twice and being pinned once, and Benjamin Eckwood was third at 215 after three pinfall victories and two losses by fall.
Centralia’s Decker victorious at Eldon JV Invitational
Centralia’s Jaden Decker was a winner on Thursday.
Decker won the 215-pound bracket at the Eldon JV Invitational after pinning four opponents.
The Panthers had five finish second, including Lucas Shuman at 106-B, Waite Shannon at 113, Tristan Woods at 113-B, Jonathon Williams at 132-C and Jameson Cooper at 215-B.
Taking third were Chris Brown at 190-B, Irl Shannon at 190-D and Tristan Staats at 285-B.
North Callaway wins couple classes at Eldon JV tournament
The North Callaway junior varsity won a couple titles during Christmas break.
Cooper Safranski at 138 pounds and Christian Moore at 157-C each won first place on Thursday at Eldon JV Invitational.
Safranski pinned four opponents following a 14-1 major decision in his favor, and Moore took five matches via pinfall, including four in the first period.
Lucas Riecke at 120 and Benjamin Haubner at 175-C each were second after going 3-2 and 3-1, respectively, with three pinfalls each.
Taking third were Eli Borchering at 106-B, John Higgins at 132-D and Leeam Gathright at 157 after each won two matches.
