It was one of the tightest duals the Mexico girls have played all season.
The Lady Bulldogs (5-11) defeated Boonville (1-6) 5-4 on Thursday at Fairgrounds Park Netplex, winning three singles matches and two doubles matches.
“It was tight until the very last match finished,” head coach Kim Costley said. “We continue to gain more experience and improve as we work towards our upcoming conference tournament. Our doubles teams again won two of the three varsity matches. Net play has been a focus in practice and games and we are beginning to see some better decision making. It was good to have Jyllian back from injury.”
Jyllian Whitworth won her singles match 8-6 along with Lucy Gleeson and Claire Hudson at respective scores of 8-4 and 8-3. In doubles, Gleeson and Hudson won 8-2, and Whitworth and Reiley Walker won 8-5.
Mexico hosts North Central Missouri Conference foe Fulton (1-9) this afternoon.
