The Mexico girls golf team took to the road Thursday, competing at Centralia Golf Course.
“We haven't gotten to play at Centralia's course for a couple years,” said coach Lindsey Yancey, “so when we got an invite earlier in the week we quickly took advantage.”
Lilly Knipfel was the match medalist, shooting a lights-out round of even par (35).
“She is in a really good place right now in her golf game,” said Yancey, “and is playing so steady and consistent, it is really fun to watch. Not only is she leading in scoring, she is also providing a really calming leadership for the team. She is supportive of her teammates and is always a positive influence to be around."
Shadora Foy delivered her best round of the season so far.
“She has really improved her ball striking in the last couple days,” Yancey said, “so it was great to watch her really connect on her shots."
Here’s how the golfers did: Knipfel, 35; Kennedi Rowe, 60; Morgan Craig, 66; and Foy, 66.
The runner-up medalist was Sylvia Moss from New Bloomfield with a 42.
The Lady Bulldogs were competing at the Kirksville Tournament Tuesday (results not available at press time).
