The Mexico boys wrestling team stayed hot last week, going undefeated in a tri-meet at home and dual tournament in Carrollton.
The Bulldogs opened the season December 3-4 at the Pleasant Hill Tournament, with Ricky Juarez (120 pounds) and Grant VanHorn (132) taking home gold medals and Dylan Mosley (138), Keith Ransom (145) and Emille Scanavino (285) grabbing silver.
The momentum carried over to Thursday as the Bulldogs defended their home mats with dual wins over Marshall and Warrenton.
Keegan Koons (106), Juarez, Watson Azdell (126), Mosley, Ransom, Jokiah Sewell (170), Deacon Haag (220) and Scanavino all picked up wins by fall in the Bulldogs’ 48-36 win over the Owls.
Then Azdell, Ransom, Sam Ortiz (170) and Sewell won by pin, and Juarez, Mosley, Peyton Hoover (160), Haag and Scanavino picked up points by forfeit as Mexico made easy work of the visiting Warriors, 54-28.
Traveling to Carrollton on Friday, the Bulldogs found themselves in closer contests early — narrowly defeating Marshall 42-40 and Chillicothe 40-30 — before routing Penney 45-27 and the host Trojans 58-18.
Ransom finished Friday 4-0 and is now 10-1 on the year, Sewell was also 4-0 and is 6-0 in total and Juarez went 3-0 and has yet to drop a match at 12-0. Mosley also went 3-0 in Carrollton and sits at 10-2 on the season, while Azdell and Haag finished 3-1 on Friday and hold 8-4 and 5-1 records, respectively.
Juarez and Sewell are also now members of the exclusive club with 100 career wins, as the senior dynamic duo each entered triple digits for wins in their high school careers.
Mexico picks things back up Friday and Saturday at the Sam Richardson Duals in Moberly.
