A Mexico man was arrested with no bond Feb. 21 on charges of violating a protection order, first-degree burglary and tampering with physical evidence.
John S. Kelly Jr. was in the 900 block of Breckenridge Street and allegedly broke into a residence occupied by individuals with a protection order against him. One of the residents witnessed Kelly enter the home, according to a probable cause statement. The resident told officers that Kelly said he was there to get his old phone and to pay bills.
The resident took photos of Kelly running toward his vehicle on Singleton Street and leave the area. The phone Kelly allegedly took was previously searched by Mexico Public Safety and contained evidence related to a separate investigation against Kelly, according to the probable cause.
Kelly did not speak and requested an attorney during a post Miranda interview.
