Five local kids made some indelible memories this summer.
Brantley Lunsford, Clayton Fennewald, Chase Knipfel, Waylon Stumpf and Bryson Nilges of the Mexico Rookies baseball team participated in the Game 7 All-Star Showcase on July 26-28 in Warrenton.
Players are nominated for this event after showing “great tournament performance and effort and for displaying great sportsmanship” in Game 7 events throughout the season. Game 7 is an organization that holds events in Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee and Kentucky.
All-star players’ weekends started with a bang by assembling for a parade prior to the July 26 Cardinals game against the Washington Nationals. Many kids had the opportunity to walk on the big-league field.
On the following days, the local kids played in three games. Teams were separated into rosters of 10-15 into the age divisions of 7U/8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U and 13U/14U. Kids receive a Game 7 All-Star dri fit, hat and ring.
