Lady Bulldogs have difficulties scoring inside in 47-30 loss in Macon
The Mexico girls wanted to go right at the Macon Lady Tigerettes on Tuesday night.
The Lady Bulldogs had trouble converting from the field in a 47-30 road loss.
Head coach Ed Costley said Mexico’s strategy didn’t go according to plan against Macon (6-12). The Lady Bulldogs were outscored 15-5 in the first quarter and 20-6 in the third quarter.
“Going into the game, we needed to win the scoring in the paint,” Costley said. “Macon had the advantage in that area. In the first quarter, we had some good looks early around the basket but
couldn’t finish. The third quarter shooting woes continued with some early runouts for Macon off some long rebound opportunities.”
Karlee Sefrit led the Lady Bulldogs (7-13) with 10 points and three charges taken, and Capri’Ona Fountain had four points and seven rebounds.
Mexico (3-2 NCMC) hosted North Central Missouri Conference foe Moberly (11-7, 4-0 NCMC) on Friday prior to hosting conference foe Marshall (5-13, 0-4 NCMC) on Monday.
