Mexico’s Aidan Knipfel didn’t stray too far from the top in the Missouri junior tour events this week.
The Missouri Golf Association tour for youth golfers that is up to nine events now had area golfers compete Monday and Wednesday in Camdenton and Lake Ozark, respectively. Knipfel finished in a tie for sixth and then took seventh in the latter tournament.
On Monday at Lake Valley Golf Course, Knipfel shot a 77, or five-over par, to tie Rogersville’s Bryce Marshall and finish six strokes behind Jefferson City’s Dylan Bryan. Knipfel only had five bogeys and one double bogey while sinking birdies on two holes on the back nine.
Then, on Wednesday at Osage National Golf Course, Knipfel finished with a 79, or seven-over par, to sit seven strokes behind first place, which was earned by Carthage’s Max Templeman and Owen Derryberry after each shooting even-par. Knipfel had four bogeys and two double bogeys to go with one birdie on the back nine.
