After finishing his season in Sedalia, Mexico’s Aidan Knipfel spent time June 9 on the greens in Moberly.

The reigning state qualifier tied for third among 16-18-year-old boys in a Missouri Golf Association junior tournament held at Heritage Hills Golf Course in Moberly.

Knipfel, who finished in a tie for 63rd at the Class 3 state tournament May 16-17 at Sedalia Country Club, shot a 12-over par or an 82 to equal the scores of Salisbury’s Elliot Hayward and Jaxon Green. Shelbina’s Casen Glover won the tournament with a nine-over par, sinking eight pars and one birdie on hole 17’s par four.

As for Knipfel, he finished with eight pars, eight bogeys and two double-bogeys. He started the front nine with a par before having both of his double-bogeys on two of the next four holes and then three bogeys on the final three holes for a seven-over par or 42. Knipfel began the back nine with five bogeys in the first seven holes but ended with pars on the final two for a five-over par on the second set of holes.
