Missouri Military Academy had a couple runner-up finishes Tuesday in Boonville.
Bryson Powell ran to a second-place time of 18:04.97 in the boys varsity 5,000-meter race to lead the Colonels to a second-place finish with 67 points. Two MMA runners finished in the top 10, three were in the top 20 and five placed in the top 30.
Gerardo Quiroga was ninth with a time of 19:56.56, Albert Ogutu was 20th with a time of 20:50.21, Wayland Evans placed 28th with a time of 21:23.54 and Alex Snyder rounded the Colonels in the top 30 with a 30th-place time of 21:23.72.
Eldon’s Nathan Reynolds won the individual title with a time of 17:47.20, and Knob Noster took the team crown with 26 points — four straight finished behind Powell.
Kamil Sanchez was MMA’s top middle school runner in the 3,200-meter race, finishing fourth with a time of 14:05.37. Michael Pfeifer was third and Dallas Grantz took fifth in the JV 5,000-meter race with respective times of 23:12.13 and 24:18.45.
MMA has the Moberly Invitational on Sept. 29.
Swimming and diving
MMA wins meet in Hannibal
Missouri Military Academy swimming and diving were victorious again Thursday.
The Colonels defeated North Point, Wentzville Holt and Hannibal with a top score of 91 points at a meet in Hannibal.
North Point was the runner-up with 73 points.
MMA competes at the CoMo Relays today in Columbia.
