Coyotes bounce back in conference with 62-48 win at Knox County

The Paris boys immediately had a chance to rectify the previous night’s conference loss.

After losing to Harrisburg on Thursday, the Coyotes won 62-48 at Lewis and Clark Conference foe Knox County on Friday night. They finished with 49 percent shooting and a 38-26 winning margin on points in the paint.

Mason Edwards led Paris (11-10, 3-2 L&C) with 18 points and nine rebounds, Colton Poddany followed with 14 points, and Colton Kendrick had 12 points. Knox County’s Blake and Kellen Parrish led the Eagles (11-11, 2-4 L&C)  with 19 points and 12 points, respectively.

The Coyotes had a narrow 21-20 lead at halftime but then won the third quarter 16-8 and the fourth quarter 24-19.

Paris hosted conference foe Fayette on Monday before tangling with conference opponent and Class No. 8 Westran (20-3, 4-1 L&C) the next night at home.

Lady Coyotes still looking for first conference win after 42-30 loss at Knox County

The Paris girls moved to 0-5 in Lewis and Clark Conference games after a 42-30 loss Friday in Edina.

The Lady Coyotes dropped another conference game to Knox County after being outscored in the second half 27-14. Paris does have a victory against Lewis and Clark foe Westran but during a tournament setting.

Paris held a 16-15 halftime lead but couldn’t keep up with Knox County’s shooting and rebounding, finishing 23.8 percent from the field and 25 rebounds compared to 34 Lady Eagle boards.

Kameron Arnett had a good day for the Lady Coyotes as she finished with 15 points, four 3-pointers and three steals, Emma Ashenfelter followed with six points, and Reese Sutton had five points and 11 rebounds.

Knox County had three score in double figures, led by Agnes Reel’s 12 points.

Paris hosted conference foe Fayette on Monday before facing Westran (5-16, 2-3 L&C) the next night at home.

Lady Coyotes fall prey to Harrisburg’s defense in 48-24 loss

The Paris girls couldn’t get anything going Thursday at home against Harrisburg.

The Lady Coyotes fell behind 15-5 after the first quarter to eventually lose 48-24, finishing at 20.5 percent from the field.

Harrisburg (12-10, 4-1 L&C) had four finish with multiple steals, including Carli Ellis with five and Emma Fischer with four. Fischer led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points, six rebounds and three 3-pointers, Brecca Thornhill followed with 10 points, and Ellis had nine points and six rebounds.

Reese Sutton led the Lady Coyotes with seven points and seven rebounds, Sophia Crusha followed with five rebounds and two 3-pointers, and Emma Ashenfelter had five points.

Coyotes unable to handle Wyatt, Harrisburg in 63-47 loss

The Paris boys couldn’t contain Harrisburg on Thursday night.

The Coyotes specifically didn’t prevent Braden Wyatt from finishing with a double-double of 27 points and 14 rebounds in the 63-47 Lewis and Clark Conference loss at home.

Paris trailed 30-23 at halftime but fell behind little by little throughout the game. 

Trace Combs and Brayden Ott each finished with 10 points to give the Bulldogs (15-6, 5-0 L&C) three in double figures while Paris had a couple in Alex Williams and Mason Edwards, who finished with 12 points and 11 points, respectively. Walter Rucker finished with eight rebounds and two blocks.
