Centralia softball had to pivot to hosting a doubleheader on Saturday instead of hosting its annual tournament but were sharp nevertheless.

The Centralia Invitational had to be canceled yesterday because rain all day Thursday left the secondary field at Bicentennial Park unplayable, so the Class 3 No. 3 Lady Panthers (20-6) welcomed Eldon (13-8) for a doubleheader and won 3-0 and then 11-0 in five innings. Jaylynn Brown over seven innings in the first game and Brooklyn Hardin over five innings in the second game combined to allow only one hit and three walks. Brown pitched a no-hitter while striking out 18 to fall one short of her seven-inning school record, and Hardin struck out seven to go with her one hit and on walk. Blakely VanDyke and Avery Bruns had RBI singles in Game 1. In Game 2, Ealynne Bostick was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Claire Page went 2-for-3 with one RBI, VanDyke finished 2-for-3 with three runs, Raleigh Dutton had one RBI, and Hardin went 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

Centralia picked up its 20th win in the second game to secure its third straight 20-win season, which is their most consecutive 20-win campaigns since having eight in a row from 2010-17. The team plays at North Callaway (13-6), who received votes in the state Class 2 poll, at 5 p.m. Monday.
